Sionah is based in Dunbar, East Lothian near to Edinburgh, Scotland. She is an expert in Specific Learning Difficulties (Sp.L.D.), Moderate Learning Difficulties (M.L.D.) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).


Sp.L.D. includes Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Disorder including Hyperactivity (ADHD), Dyspraxia (Developmental Co-ordination Disorder [DCD]), Speech & Language Impairment (SLI) and associated Emotional and Social Difficulties.

Persons identified as having a Specific Learning Difficulty or Difficulties all show different intellectual and emotional profiles, strengths and weaknesses, learning styles and life experiences.


Within this context, Specific Learning Difficulties can be identified as distinctive patterns of difficulties, relating to the processing of information, within a continuum from very mild to severe, which result in restrictions in literacy, language and number and discrepancies in motor function and social and organisational skills.

Sionah is currently based in East Lothian, near Edinburgh in Scotland and has the following background experience.

  • Completed 3 year teacher training course in 1971 followed by a post graduate 1 year course in Sp.L.D. both in Scotland
  • Taught in both primary and secondary schools in both Scotland and England.
  • Prior to training as an Educational Psychologist in Scotland was Head of Learning Support in at a large high school in Lincolnshire.
  • After training as an Educational Psychologist practised in Local Education Authorities (LEAs) in both Scotland and England.
  • Prior to opening the Red Rose School in 1997, was a Lancashire LEA Educational Psychologist, seen as the specialist in Sp.L.D., ASD, BESD and Gifted students.
  • As well as background in Sp.L.D., areas of research were implementing behaviour strategies (including conflict resolution) and working with students with Complex learning difficulties.
  • Principal Educational Psychologist Western Quebec School Board, Canada; authored and introduced Conflict Resolution programme across all schools.
  • Professor in Teacher Education Department, University of Ottawa, Canada.
  • Senior Counsellor Trainer within Counselling Department, University of Ottawa, Canada.
  • Set up Educational Psychological Service in Saudi Arabia and trained American and British teachers in Sp.L.D./ASD using the University of Edinburgh course.
  • Teacher and pedagogical training programmes in Sp.L.D. at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia; Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic; University of Gdańsk, Poland; Univeristy of Porto, Portugal; University of Graz, Austria.
